The physical education and health program at Launch Academy is a unique all-sport program. The purpose of the PE program is to encourage a lifestyle of fitness and nutrition. We achieve this through a program that reflects the needs of each student based on their age and current fitness level. Our Launch Academy PE director believes the following for all students:
• fitness should be a positive social experience with the goal of building a positive self-image,
• fitness routines should be taught to promote general wellness even outside of the school,
• physical activity and nutrition are equally important for maintaining an active and productive life,
• a better health-educated, active individuals, will be better equipped to handle personal and social, environmental and safety decisions, and
• each student must be enabled to be proficient in at least three physical activities for life.
We believe that exercise and fitness are: for a lifetime, for fun and pleasure, and for everyone.
We allow every student to be both successful and challenged through individualized and small group learning, using a multi-media approach. Our faculty strives to meet each student’s academic, physical, emotional, and social needs at an individual level. Our goal is to ensure self-esteem through success and growth through challenge. We respect and value each member of the Launch Academy family. Working together, Launch Academy’s families, faculty, and administration create a supportive and stimulating educational environment for each student. An open-door administrative philosophy promotes family involvement and input.
Launch Academy ends each semester with a student show and Parent Social. The students of Launch Academy perform a theatre production once a semster and a showcased concert. Students spend ten weeks preparing an evening that often combines art, music and a dramatic production for parents and guests. Snacks and coffee are served throughout.
Launch Academy pursues a music philosophy of combining contemporary music instrumentation and musical styles with traditional music theory education. Multiple student bands with instrumentation ranging from typical guitars, keys and vocals to progressive folk instruments such as balilikas, cajons and djembes, perform in our own state of the art performance space as well as in venues around Sugar Land. We believe a well-rounded music program equips students with rhythmic, tonal and performance sensibilities. Private instruction in piano (or keyboards,) voice, guitar, bass guitar, cello, violin and string bass are available. See our most recent performance on our Facebook Homepage!
